The video for Brian McFadden’s new single has been withdrawn after a Christian Brothers’ school objected to it being depicted on tape. 

St Fintan’s High School in Sutton said the video clearly identified its building and added that McFadden was never at any time a pupil at the school. 

The 24-year-old claims in the song Irish Son that he was regularly beaten by Christian Brothers while at school.

Brian’s record label Sony BMG moved quickly this week to defuse the controversy by withdrawing the video and sending a new version to TV stations. 

The label said that until it received the objection it assumed the name shown in the video was not real.
