| Fee Increases By Debbie

USCIS is hiking application fees next month for most of the services
it provides, including naturalization, adjustment of status and advance
parole/re-entry permits.
The new fees will come into place on October 26. The increases, though,
aren’t terribly much — the average comes out to about $10.
The N-400 application for naturalization goes from $320 to $330, the
I-130 alien relative petition from $185 to $190, the I-131 application for
travel document from $165 to $170, and the I-485 adjustment of status application
from $315 to $325. Other types of USCIS applications have similar increases.
The agency says it is instituting the changes due to “inflation.”
Obviously the new charges aren’t exorbitant, and the USCIS is still moving
towards its goal of providing a six-month turnaround in application processing
by the end of next year.
Message to any naturalization candidate who feels like saving 10 bucks
— get those applications in now!
