Miss Ireland Wants the World

THE Miss World competition takes place this Saturday in China, and Ireland’s contestant is quite a stunner with a bit of show-biz in her background to boot.

Rosanna David-

son, only 19, is the daughter of Irish soft rock crooner Chris de Burgh, who was pretty much a one-hit wonder on these shores with his “Lady in Red” song.

“I’m going out to win, but of course, so is every other girl,” says Rosanna.

“It would be a big dream to win the Miss World, but I know there are another hundred girls sharing the same dream — but I am a very ambitious girl!”

Guess what? She’ll wear a red evening dress on Saturday night, not because of her dad’s song but because it suits her coloring better.

Anyone remember all the tabloid messiness 1994, when Chris de Burgh cheated on his unsuspecting wife Diane with the family nanny? Rosanna sure does, but she says the family has moved on. Chris and Diane are still together, and they’ll be watching their girl do her thing in China.

“Even at the time of the controversy, I knew he loved us all,” says Rosanna. “Things happen and you just have to move on.”

Chris, she says, has been a great help in launching her career in the public eye. “I really couldn’t have done all this without his advice and encouragement,” she says.
