The Life and Legacy of Robert Emmet at AIHS
THE year 2003 marks the bicentenary of the death of Robert Emmet, one of the most popular and important Irish revolutionaries. A new book Remember Emmet: Images of the Life and Legacy of Robert Emmet charts his life from his earliest years to his time as a student activist in 1798, to his emergence as a full blown revolutionary leader in 1803. His trial and execution followed. Ruán O’Donnell, Ireland’s leading authority on Robert Emmet, and the author of a definitive two-volume biography, will discuss this latest book at the American Irish Historical Society, 991 Fifth Avenue at 80th Street, Manhattan. Tony Kenny’s “Christmastime in Ireland”
