Miriam Juarbe, the mother of firefighter Angel L. Juarbe Jr., whose name
is one of 343 names on a bronze relief (pictured above) dedicated to the
firefighters “who fell and to those who carry on,” which was unveiled on
June 10 on the side of “10 House,” the home of Engine Company 10 and
Ladder Company 10, across Liberty Street from the World Trade Center,
and next door to the Tribute Center.

Danny O’Flaherty, once famed for putting on live traditional music seven
nights a week in his New Orleans bar, O’Flaherty’s, will host the 16th
annual Celtic Nations Heritage Festival and World Cup Curragh Regatta on
October 13-15 in the Civic Center in Lake Charles. Tommy Makem will
headline the event, which will raise funds for the Heritage Center
O’Flaherty hopes to open in Lake Charles. His bar was destroyed by

Rita Hayden, wife of the former FDNY Chief Peter Hayden, on the death of
her nephew Lance Corporal Michael D. Glover, 28. Glover had taken time
out from law school and joined the Marines after his closest friend,
Charlie Heeran, was killed on 9/11. Glover was killed by sniper fire in
Fallujah. Another Irish-American, Captain John J. McKenna, was killed
