| The Irish Cart
The traditional Irish cart, as used for transporting turf from the bog
and cereal crops from the fields, was a distinctive type, largely unknown
in England and mainland Europe. It bore no resemblance to the English wagons
typified by that depicted in Constable’s ‘Haywain’, nor did it have the
same kind of capacity.
